Taylorville Police to Pursue Home Forfeitures in Drug Busts

Wednesday, 12 February 2025

A proposal by the Taylorville Police Department is catching a lot of reactions on social media.

Chief Dwayne Wheeler, in partnership with the state's attorney's office, is working to seize properties involved in narcotics investigations.

On Facebook, Wheeler shared that, after a person was recently sentenced, the presiding judge in that case approved the forfeiture of their home.

TPD will work with the state's attorney to secure the property, after which the Taylorville mayor and city council will determine its future use, Wheeler said.

"If you engage in drug-related activities in this community, you risk losing your home." said Chief Wheeler's Facebook post. "Take your drug dealing elsewhere, or face the consequences."
