A Tuscola contractor who pleaded guilty to making false stetements to a bankruptcy court has been sentenced to a day in prison and three years of supervised release and has been ordered to pay nearly $77,000 in restitution.

That contractor, Aaron Gillison, falsely testified in bankruptcy court in 2018 that he had not mingled money from his business, Applewood Builders, LLC, with his own personal funds, according to a 2023 indictment. A Macon County woman had complained she contracted with Gillison to build a home, but Gillison failed to pay subcontractors and suppliers, leaving the home unfinished.

During a hearing last week, a federal judge ordered Gillison to pay $76,960 to the Macon County woman.
