The University of Illinois Board of Trustees have approved an $8.3 billion operating budget for the current fiscal year, university staff said.
The amount is a slight increase over last year's budget and still requires approval by the Illinois General Assembly, according to reports.
The budget is a spending plan that prioritizes student support and academic excellence, while staying affordable, University administration said.
Earlier this month, U of I announced that fall enrollment reached record highs with more than 97,000 students enrolled system-wide.
