A juvenile faces charges of disorderly conduct and making a terrorist threat following a reported threat against St. John's Lutheran School in Mattoon Monday, Mattoon Police have confirmed.
A concerned parent reported the potential threat to school staff who, in turn, alerted the Mattoon Police Department, according to a statement released by interim principal Meghan Hagen. Officers arrived at the school's campus before the juvenile, a student, arrived, Hagen wrote.
The threat had been shared across social media platforms, according to Hagen.
The incident comes as schools around Central Illinois respond to reports of threats shared through social media.
