The Regional Office of Education #11 has addressed concerns about school safety.
ROE officials have been working with sheriff's and superintendents from different counties and school districts to develop programs to improve school safety.
Over the next 9 months ROE #11 will host a number of different activities to teach people how to identify and solve potential safety concerns.
The courses will offer training in vulnerability assessment, appropriate protocol for sexting and cyberbullying, response options for active shooters, student behavioral threat assessment, and online safety training, said ROE officials.
Speakers and host of these events include Dr. Steve Webb, Detective Rich Wistocki, Alyssa Castleman form the office of the Attorney General, and several local officers, said ROE officials.
Regional Superintendent Dr. Kyle Thompson said, "It is our responsibility to help our schools provide learning environments as safe and secure as possible, and we hope these training opportunities this year show we are taking that job seriously."
