A Champaign man (31) is in custody after a series of apartment break ins.
Throughout January and February, multiple residents reported seeing a suspicious man enter unlocked apartments at a high rise on East Green Street in Champaign, said police.
A resident saw Travis Williams and told the building manager, who then called the police, said officials.
Champaign authorities said Williams attempted to flee when officers arrived but was quickly detained.
Officers said, Williams wasin possession of a bottle of liquor he claimed he got from a resident, but the resident told police they had no idea Williams was in their apartment.
Williams is being held on burglary and trespassing charges.
