IDOT Warns Drivers about Deer

Wednesday, 19 October 2022

The Illinois Department of Transportation is warning drivers of deer activity, as the animals begin their mating season.

In 2021, 14,522 motor vehicle crashs involved deer in Illinois.

IDOT encourages drivers to be aware of their surroundings in areas with deer crossing signs.

They also say, do not veer to avoid deer, because it will lead to you driving on the wrong side of the road.

If you hit a deer, pull off to the shoulder, turn on your hazard lights and call 911 to report the accident, IDOT said.
