SBLHC Confirms Two Additional Coronavirus Tests

Monday, 30 March 2020

Two new cases of coronavirus have been confirmed by Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Center. That’s according to Media Relations Director, Patty Peterson.

Peterson says the two new cases are not residents from Coles County. One case, she says, is from outside the Sarah Bush Service area. Peterson says that patient was passing through the area when they were tested. She says they are now back home in self-isolation.

Peterson says the other patient is from within Sarah Bush’s 10-county service area. To protect the privacy of the patient, Peterson was unable to release where the patient is from. However, Diana Stenger, the Coles County Health Department Administrator, says this patient is not from Coles County.

Stenger wanted to remind the community that only a positive laboratory test could confirm COVID-19. She said if anyone from Coles County tests positive for the virus, an alert would come directly from the Coles County Health Department and the Illinois Department of Public Health.

She says citizens contacting their physicians with mild symptoms may be told they have coronavirus symptoms and to self-monitor for the next 14 days. However, she says, this is not a confirmation of COVID-19.

Peterson says the two new positive COVID-19 tests brings Sarah Bush's positive total up to three. She reports there are now 89 negative coronavirus tests.

Sarah Bush has increased its visitor restrictions to prevent further spread of the virus.
