A local community college is raising tuition, due to lack of state funding.
Richland College Director of Marketing and Public Relations Tracy Withrow said the Decatur college is raising tuition for the 2021 academic year.
She said the university gets funding from property taxes, tuition, and state funds, and right now state funding is at a stand still, leading to the 2.2 percent tuition raise.
Tuition is going up $3 a credit hour, to $153.
The increase begins next year.
