Fatal Accident Involves Deer in Clay County

Another fatal crash is reported in central Illinois that involves a deer.

The Illinois State Police say the latest crash happened Tuesday on U.S. 50 at Juniper Road in Clay County.

Police say a school bus was traveling east on U.S. 50 when a deer ran into the road.

Authorities say the driver of the bus hit the deer, head on, causing the animal to go airborne into the westbound lane and into the front windshield of another car.

State Police say a passenger in the car Bridget Kerrick of Salem was taken to Clay County Hospital where she died.

On March 4th, another fatal involving a deer happened just east of Paris on U.S. Highway 150.

Authorities say the crash happened when a westbound Jeep Cherokee hit a deer which forced the animal into the path of 25 year-old Jordan Thorne's S-U-V.

They say the deer went through the windshield and struck Thorne who was pronounced dead at the scene.
