ISU Celebrates Black History Month

A local university has filled Black History Month with a wide variety of events.

Interim Director of the Charles E. Brown African American Cultural Center at Indinana State University Sumalayo Jackson said the Black History Month Committee wanted to celebrate 150 years of African American achievement at ISU.

She said their goal is to provide the ISU and Terre Haute communities a place to celebrate African American achievement and contributions beyond slavery.

Jackson said they kicked off the month with a speech by alumna Carolyn E. Mosby-Williams, author of the book "Unflappable".

She said there will be events throughout the entire month of February.
