For the second time this year, the city of Mattoon has a new fire chief.
Kevin Schott took over as the town's interim chief earlier this month.
He replaces Kris Phipps who resigned in October.
Schott was a firefighter in the Illinois Air National Guard for 24 years as a firefighter, and most recently served as fire chief in Litchfield Illinois.
Schott will serve as interim chief until July 12th, while the city searches for someone to fill the position permanently.
