Champaign Co. EMA to Upgrade and Test Outdoor Warning Sirens Next Week

Wednesday, 22 January 2020

If you live in Champaign County and hear outdoor warning sirens during calm weather next week, don't be alarmed.

Champaign County's Emergency Management Agency is modernizing a 39 siren-system from analog to digital communications.

Those 39 sirens are located in Champaign, Urbana, Savoy, and on the University of Illinois' campus.

Following the upgrades, each siren will need to be tested and evaluated, and CCEMA says those tests will occur from January 27th to the 31st between 8 a.m. and 6 p.m.
