The University of Illinois Police are encouraging students to be careful when making transactions through online services like Facebook or Craiglist.
Police said if you're meeting someone after buying or selling an item online, conduct the exchange in a public place, like the U of I police department.
They said back in November, authorities received a report of a student's laptop being stolen after he met with a buyer who drove off with it.
