With thefts on the rise, The Shelby County's Sheriff's department is reminding residents to lock your doors.
Undersheriff Robert McCall said this isn't just limited to homes, as garage and car thefts are on the rise as well.
He said break-ins aren't the only threat of theft this holiday season either, as thieves are stealing packages from porches too.
Some tips to avoid porch pirates are schedule mail to arrive when you know you'll be home, ask a trusted neighbor to grab your package, or use a locker or similar secure drop box service.
