On Saturday, the Parkland College Men's Basketball team fell to No. 3 seed Kirkwood Community College in the NJCAA National Tournament Championship.
Following an early deficit, the Cobras fought to keep it close, going into halftime down by a score of 29-25.
A very close second half found both teams tied at 54 with only a few seconds left in the game, a late free throw would give the Eagles the last-second win and the championship.
"As I mentioned to the fellas in the locker room, there is no disappointment in this year," Parkland head coach John Bowler said after the game. "They have elevated this program back to a level that hasn't been seen in several decades. I am truly proud of how they represented our program and institution. They did it with grit, dedication and toughness."
This season ends up being Parkland's best season finish since 1988, with JaMonte Williams, Jaiden Martin, and Drew Lewis Jr. being named to the All-Tournament Team.
