The Robinson City Council is considering an ordinance that would allow people to keep chickens in city limits.
City leaders said, if passed, people would need a permit to keep between two to six chickens in a pen, and roosters would not be allowed.
If passed, residents must register with the city clerk and purchase an annual permit for $25.00, according to city officials.
Any person violating a regulation would be subject to a fine between $275.00 - $750.00 upon first conviction and $475.00 - $750.00 upon second conviction of the same offense in a two-year period, said city leaders.
The final draft of the ordinance will be presented, and possibly voted on, at the next city council meeting on Tuesday, March 25th.
