Friday, 7 March 2025

An Indiana woman charged with trying to hire a hitman to kill her child's father pleaded guilty Friday.

Davetta Cox of Clinton, Indiana was arrested in January 2024 after she met an undercover investigator at the Charleston, Illinois Walmart and offered $6,000 in exchange for the father's disappearance or death, according to federal prosecutors.

Court records show Cox appeared in federal court Friday and pleaded guilty to two counts of using interstate commerce as part of a murder-for-hire plan.

Cox is due back in court for sentencing July 18.
