The Coles County Sheriff's Department released details of a fatal crash this morning that left one person dead.
Around 8:15 A.M., a 2004 Nissan pickup was heading east on Country Road 1200 North, according to Coles County Sheriff Kent Martin
When the truck reached a jog in the road, the vehicle left the roadway and flipped, landing upside down in a field, Martin said.
The driver, which police have only identified as a 16-year-old male, was pronounced dead at the scene, said Martin.
A juvenile passenger was medically treated at the scene and taken to Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana, according to the sheriff.
The incident is being investigated by the Coles County Coroner's and Sheriff's Offices.
