Fatal Shooting Reported in Mahomet

The Illinois State Police said a man shot and killed by Berwyn Police late Wednesday was wanted for the triple homicide committed in Mahomet. The name of the suspect killed in Berwyn has not been released.
The Champaign County Coroner has identified the three family members killed in Mahomet as Janis L. Mason (61), Caleb M. Mason (23) and Sara E. Mason (26).

A fatal shooting is reported in Mahomet.
The shooting happened Wednesday night at 9:41pm at a home in the 1100 block of Riverside Drive, said Mahomet Chief of Police Michael Metzler.
Metzler said initial reports indicated multiple people had been shot.
When officers arrived on scene, they found three people with life-threatening gunshot wounds, said Metzler.
Metzler said one victim was pronounced dead at the scene while two others were taken to Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana where they died.
Authorities have located a suspect, but that person hasn't been identified, said police.
Chief Metzler said multiple agencies assisted with the investigation including the Illinois State Police, the Champaign Sheriff's Office and the Champaign County Coroner's Office.
