Overnight Apartment Fire in Charleston

The Charleston Fire Department were called to 1041 7th Street after reports of smoke sometime after midnight, according to Charleston Fire Chief Tim Meister.

First responders evacuated 17 people from the building.

The fire started in a living room near a heater mounted on the wall, according to investigators.
    
The heaviest damage was contained to an apartment on the first floor, and the other apartments had minor smoke damage, said Meister.
    
Nobody was hurt, but  one person has temporarily moved, according to Meister.
