Officials in Effingham are working to determine the cause of an apartment building fire.
The kitchen fire happened on Sunday at 1618 Hillside Drive, Apartment E5, according to Effingham Fire Chief Brant Yochum.
Two people were rescued from the building while another person jumped to safety from a second floor apartment, according to Chief Yochum.
"Two occupants were transported to St. Anthony Hospital by Rural Med EMS for treatment of smoke inhalation." said Chief Yochum.
The cause of the fire is still being investigated by State Fire Marshals and the Effingham Fire department, and all 18 people in that affected building have been moved while the investigation continues, said Yochum.
