Wednesday, 9 October 2024

44-year-old Crystal Calbro of Danville will spend a year on court supervision and pay back $44,000 to the Vermillion County Department of Animal Regulation after pleading guilty to animal cruelty charges, said Attorney General Kwame Raoul.

Officials seized eight horses, two rabbits and a donkey from Calbro's property after complaints in March of 2023, officials said.

The attorney general called their living conditions "abhorrent."

Court records show Calbro can no longer legally own horses, donkeys or rabbits.

The animals are now under the care of the department of animal regulation, the attorney general said.
