Interstate 70 Westbound Lanes Reopen

Monday, 7 October 2024

Drivers that frequently use Interstate 70 will soon see less congestion along the highway.

The Illinois Department of Transportation is reopening the westbound side of I-70 between Effingham and Montrose tomorrow, Tuesday, October 8th.

The westbound ramps at the Montrose interchange will also reopen, while the eastbound and westbound passing lanes will remain closed as construction continues, according to the Illinois Department of Transportation.

Work on the eastbound lanes is expected to be completed in early November, said state officials.

The department is asking drivers to remain patient, follow the speed limit, and stay alert for construction workers and equipment.
