Reports of threats against schools have prompted investigations and arrests in Central Illinois communities.

On Tuesday, Decatur Police arrested a 13-year-old following a threat against Stephen Decatur Middle School which was shared on multiple social media platforms. Police arrested the teen, who they said had been involved in a similar threat in August, for disorderly conduct. Officers seized several guns from the teen's home, and they said the weapons belong to a family member who has a valid FOID card.

Decatur Police also arrested an 11-year-old following another threat that did not identify a specific school. That juvenile was admitted to a hospital but could not be detained; police said they have petitioned to charge the juvenlie with disorderly conduct.

The arrests come amid reports of threats in other communities.

On Monday, Champaign Police arrested a 14-year-old in connection with a call reporting an armed person at Centennial High School. Police said they found no evidence of an armed person at the school.

School and police officials in Villa Grove said they have investigated social media reports of threats against schools in their community over the weekend, finding that reports of threats were "fabricatd based on nothing more than rumors."
