EIU Fall Enrollment Down Slightly

Wednesday, 4 September 2024

Eastern Illinois University has finished its student headcount for the fall semester.

A total of 8,505 students are enrolled this semester, which is slightly less than last year, according to EIU officials.

The lower enrollment could be caused by issues with the FAFSA, changes in financial aid policies, and VISA issues that affect international students, the school said on Wednesday.

The report also highlights increased retention for both freshmen and transfer students.

"I'm excited to see the most students living on campus since Fall 2016. By focusing on Plan 2028, we will continue to position every single EIU student for future success on our engaging, thiving campus." said University President Jay Gatrell.
