The Lake Land Men's Basketball program has recently announced the schedule for the upcoming 2024-25 season.
The Lakers kick off their 2024 campaign with a home matchup against Lincoln Land Community College on November 1, then taking off on a brief road trip to RJ. Daley College upstate in the Windy City November 5th before returning home to face Jefferson College and Olive-Havey College on November 9-10.
Lake Land continues their November stretch on the road against Lincoln Land on the 18th, following another trip to Lewis & Clark Community College in Godfrey, Illinois on November 27th, before competing in the Iowa Classic against Highland Community College and Southeastern Community on November the 29th-30th.
December kicks off a relatively long home stretch, the 3rd welcoming Danville Area Community College for a matchup, as well as Rend Lake College visiting Laker Field House on December 11th; shortly after, the Lakers face-off against Kaskaskia College on the 14th, Illinois Central College on the 17th, and concluding with another contest with Lewis & Clark on December 21st.
January in 2025 will feature a split between 3 home and 3 road games, facing John A Logan on the 11th, Lincoln Trail College on the 22nd, and Wabash Valley on the 29th - all at home, as well as traveling to Olney Central College on January 8, Shawnee Community College on January 15th, Vincennes University January 18th, and Southwestern Illinois on January 25th.
February provides the Lakers with a challenge, as the Lakers travel to 4 different teams, including Rend Lake and Kaskaskia on February 1 and 5, John A. Logan on the 15th, and a date with Lincoln Trail College in Robinson on February 26th.
The cold month of February continues with its Laker FieldHouse contests, welcoming Olney Central February the 8th, as well as Shawnee Community College February 19th and Vincennes University on the 22nd.
The Lakers will conclude their season facing off against Southwestern Illinois on March 1, following their last game against Wabash Valley on March 4 on the road.
Last year's campaign for the Lakers did not end on a high note, losing their last game 91 to 64 to John A. Logan in postseason play, though they averaged 80.4 points-per-game against their opponents, shooting 44% with the ball in their hands.
Sean De Kovachich led the Lakers' offense, averaging 14.7 points-per-game in 29 games, following Lake Land's Tyler Chapman's efforts, averaging 13.2 points-per-game, shooting 46 percent and nearly 42 percent from the 3-point line in 30 games last season.
As a team, the Lakers finished the 2023-24 season with a 19-12 record, 10-6 in conference play, shooting 44.4% with the ball in their hands and averaging 80.4 points-per-game.
Lake Land ranked 33rd nationally in free throw percentage in NJCAA Division I, as well as finishing last year's campaign winning 13 of their last 20 games.
