Tuesday, 29 August 2023

The Urbana Police Department is responding to the rise in car thefts with free steering wheel locks!

Urbana Police said they've worked several Hyundai and Kia vehicle thefts recently, linked to a nationwide social media trend.

The affected cars do not have engine mobilizers, and consist of the 2011 to 2021 Kia Vehicles, and the 2013 to 2021 Hyundai Vehicles, said Police.

The trend has been seen on social media platforms like TikTok, and shows videos of people breaking into the cars, said authorities.

The event is on Wednesday, August 30th, at the Urbana Police Department, located at 400 South Vine Street, and runs from 10 A.M. to 12 P.M.
