Four men face multiple federal charges after police said they stole hundreds of thousands of dollars out of mailboxes.
The four include Isaiah Jordan, 29, of Urbana and Quentin Abrams, 24, of Charleston, and two men from the Chicago area.
They're accused of using a stolen master key to open mail collection boxes around Carbondale to steal and alter checks from more than 50 postal customers.
The indictment alleged the scheme operated from March 2020 through July 2020, and affected six banks in the Carbondale area, with an estimated total loss of over $400,000.
Three of the men are now in custody, but Demarius Flakes, 29, of Blue Island is still at large.
Anyone with information on his whereabouts are encouraged to contact the U.S. Marshals Service in Southern Illinois.
