An I-DOT worker discovers a body in an Edgar County cornfield.

Edgar County Coroner Scott Barrett said the body of Josh E. Musser (48) was found on Tuesday.

Barrett said an I-DOT worker stopped to pick up a broken telephone box in a ditch off Illinois Route 1 near 1800th Road and discovered Musser in a cornfield.

Barrett said Musser was driving a motorcycle and for an unknown reason left the road, hit a telephone box and ended up in the field.

The coroner said family members had been looking for Musser since August 19th.

"It's believed that the accident occurred Saturday evening. Examination of Mr. Musser showed he died immediately of his injuries", said Barrett.

The accident remains under investigation by the Illinois State Police, Edgar County Sheriff’s Department, and the Edgar County Coroner.
