Crews worked through the day to rescue a person trapped in a grain bin in Westfield Tuesday.
Emergency responders were called to Littlejohn Grain Inc. around 11 a.m. on reports of a person trapped inside a grain bin. When they arrived, they found the person conscious and alert, according to Clark County Sheriff Bill Brown, who was at the scene.
"I've been on several of these and haven't had positive outcomes," Brown said of grain bin rescues. "I'm very optimistic that this is going to be a positive outcome."
The person inside the bin was removed shortly after 3 p.m. and was taken to an area hospital for treatment, authorities said.
Multiple local fire departments, other emergency responders and volunteers assisted with the rescue, Brown said.
