Sex Assault Trial Ends with Hung Jury

A Villa Grove man who was charged with criminal sexual assault in 2018 is scheduled to return to court in late February after his trial ended with a hung jury.
Mattoon Police arrested Colton Figgins, then 29 years old, in 2018 on allegations he had sexual contact with a five-year-old girl. Figgins was charged with two counts of predatory criminal sexual assault, court records show.
Figgins went on trial January 3, and on January 4 the judge declared a mistrial after jurors reported they were unable to reach a verdict, according to online court records.
Figgins is scheduled for a status hearing February 22.
