One teenager is dead and another has been arrested following a shooting incident in Decatur Monday evening, police have said.
Officers responded to reports of a 13-year-old with an apparent gunshot wound at a home on 4th Drive on the city’s south side around 10:47 p.m., according to a news release. The 13-year-old was taken to a hospital and later died of the injury, according to police.
Investigators reported finding a shell casing and gun at the scene.
Authorities arrested a 16-year-old on a preliminary charge of involuntary manslaughter, police said. The 16-year-old is being held at the Peoria County Juvenile Detention Center, they said.
