The first Illinois firearm deer season is over, and the numbers are in!

The Illinois Department of Natural Resources says hunters harvested a total of 52,354 deer, topping last years total of 48,964.

Data from the IDNR shows many counties saw an uptick in deer harvests, with hunters in Coles County harvesting 487 deer, up 19 from last year, and nearby Clark County harvesting 721 deer, up 29 from the previous season.
