After years of delays, a Coles County judge has sentenced an Urbana woman to nine years in prison for her role in the 2015 overdose death of a Paris man, court records show.
Wylesha Ayres was initially charged with drug induced homicide for providing heroin to Hayden Keys of Paris. Keys was found unresponsive in a car at Lake Land College after overdosing on the heroin provided by Ayres, authorities said.
In May, Ayres pleaded guilty to a charge of involuntary manslaughter.
On Friday, a judge sentenced Ayres to nine years in prison with credit for 269 days served in jail and ordered that Ayers undergo drug and alcohol treatment while in prison, court records show.
