Homeowners in Illinois will be getting a little extra help.
The Illinois Housing Development Authority (IHDA) announced on Friday the Illinois homeowner fund (ILHAF) is back this year.
The ILHAF will help homeowners affected by COVID-19.
Lt.Governor Juliana Stratton said, "to the Illinois residents struggling during these difficult economic times, trying to pay your mortgage, we see you and we are taking action".
IHDA has also said those who apply could get up to $60,000 that will go towards late mortgage payments, property taxes, property insurance, and homeowner/condo association fees.
All the money that homeowners get will go directly to the mortgage servicer, taxing body, or any other service that qualify, said officials
IHDA Executive Director Kristin Faust said," with foreclosure rates remaining high throughout Illinois, we want to ensure these funds get into the hands of those who need it".
Applications will stay open until January 31,2023.
