The University of Illinois' Gies College of Business received a $25 million donation in support of the new South Campus Center for Interdisciplinary Learning (SCCIL).
The building is planned to serve undergraduate and graduate students as well as faculty and offering facilities to cater to the University's expanding online programs.
The facility clocks in at just under 100,000 square feet and will include a 200-seat auditorium, two 80-seat classrooms, four 60-seat classrooms, two 40'x40' sound stages, five blackbox studios, six control booths, 18 additional meeting rooms, and 84 new office spaces.
SCCIL is a partnership between Gies and other schools on the south end of campus, so they will be sharing fundraising duties to raise the $105 million necessary to complete the building, with Gies planning to fundraise $50 million, half of the total cost.
Construction will begin in spring of 2023 and is expected to be completed by 2025.
