A large feline's tour of Springfield has come to a close.

Illinois Department of Natural Resources officials said a mountain lion that wandered from Nebraska to stroll around neighborhoods west of the city will be sent to the Exotic Feline Rescue Center in Crown Point, Indiana.

They said the young male cougar arrived in Springfield, October 26th.

Officials said it was tranquilized after they determined the cougar was in areas with a greater chance of human confrontation.

Officials said the cougar had been tracked from Nebraska with a G-P-S collar by researchers, and there were no reports of interactions with people.
