The Illinois Department of Public Health announced a surge of new COVID-19 cases in the state Wednesday.
IDPH is reporting 128 new cases in Illinois, bringing the total number of cases to 288 across 17 counties.
Twenty additional cases were confirmed at a long-term care facility in DuPage County that's experiencing an outbreak.
That facility alone has 42 total cases, 30 residents and 12 staff members.
Champaign and Cumberland counties remain the only two counties in the immediate WEIU viewing area with confirmed cases.
Each county is reporting one case.
Health officials are expecting the number of cases to continue to rise across the state.
On Tuesday, the Illinois National Guard said Gov. Pritzker had activated about 60 service members to assist with anticipated need for logistical support and medical staffing.
