North American Lighting announces a possible COVID-19 exposure in Paris.
NAL President and COO Kirk Gadberry released a statement saying, "NAL recently became aware of a potential COVID-19 exposure at our corporate office in Paris, IL. We are currently working with the Edgar County Health Department to insure we follow all proper protocols."
He said the company had already offered telework to their corporate employees if necessary, so they implemented those methods starting Monday and continuing until further notice.
Gadberry said they are not aware of any exposure to their Paris manufacturing plant or any of their other manufacturing facilities, so team members continue to work as scheduled.
The Edgar County Public Health Department said there were no confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the county as of 1:45 p.m. March 16th.
The Illinois Department of Public Health reported 12 new cases in the state Monday, bringing the total to 105.
Counties with confirmed cases include Champaign, Clinton, Cook, Cumberland, DuPage, Kane, Lake, McHenry, Peoria, Sangamon, St. Clair, Whiteside, Will, Winnebago, and Woodford.
IDPH says information so far suggests that most COVID-19 illness is mild; however, older people and people of all ages with severe chronic medical conditions, like heart disease, lung disease, and diabetes, seem to be at higher risk of developing serious illness.
Health officials say it's crucial that residents limit contact with older people and those with certain health conditions.
