Precautionary measures are being taken at the Coles County Courthouse due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Coles County Sheriff James Rankin is asking courthouse visitors to return any unnecessary items, like cell phones and other personal items, to their vehicles or home before entering the building.
The policy was implemented Thursday and will be phased in over the next week.
Rankin says any concerns regarding items needed for court will be considered on a case-by-case basis.
