A local university received a donation from a Nobel Prize-winning physics professor.

Former University of Illinois professor Anthony Legget was awarded the 2003 Nobel Prize in Physics for contributions to the theory of superconductors and superfluids.

U of I officials say Legget donated more than 50 years of work to the university archives.

They say Legget donated material including early correspondence with other scholars, research and lectures, along with handwritten research notes.

Legget retired last December.
