Illinois Coronavirus Update

Friday, 6 March 2020

State health officials said the latest victim for coronavirus in Illinois is a man in his 20s, who traveled to Italy.

Governor J.B. Pritzker said he's in isolation at a Chicago hospital in stable condition.

Health officials said the other patients either made a full recovery or are in good condition.

State Public Health Director Ngoze Ezike said Illinois now has four labs to speed up testing for the coronavirus and is working with hospitals to conduct surveillance tests.

Earlier today, Indiana health officials confirmed the first case of coronavirus in the state.

State Health Commissioner Dr. Kris Box said the man is in stable condition in self isolation after going to an Indianapolis hospital late Thursday with mild symptoms.

Box said the man had attended a conference in Boston where he was exposed to others with COVID-19.
