Charleston's city council approves a tax on potential future cannabis sales.

The council approved a maximum of a three-percent tax on cannabis sales, though the city is still in a moratorium involving sales.

The moratorium went in to effect in October and goes until May 31st.

Mayor Brandon Combs didn't say if the city will allow cannabis related businesses in the future.

Combs said the city is also looking into hosting a public meeting to discuss the possibility of marijuana sales, but no date is set.
