The trial of a Mattoon man accused of attempted murder and home invasion is over.
Moulrie County State's Attorney Tracy Weaver said on Tuesday, 33-year-old Alvin Booths was found guilty on charges stemming from an incident on February 4th, 2019.
Weaver said Booths entered the Sullivan home of Otha Phillips and Holley Simmons, proceeding to shoot Otha Phillips in the neck and attempting to shoot Holley.
Authorities said when Booths gun jammed he fled the residence.
Police from multiple law enforcement outlets helped in the investigation, leading to Booths arrest.
He returns to court April 7th for sentencing.
