It's National Utility Scam Awareness Week, and that's why Ameren is trying to get the word out.
Officials are reminding customers to be aware of telephone, email, and door-to-door scams from people posing as Ameren representatives, demanding immediate payment or face utility shutoff.
They say scammers will also try to get you to switch energy suppliers, or gain access to your home with the intent to steal items.
Authorities say never give out personal information, delete emails that demand immediate action, and also ask to see an employee I.D. if a worker comes to your door.
