Eight of the 177 employees laid-off earlier this month worked at the Mary J. Booth Library on Eastern's campus.
The library had previously lost employees, but now they are short-handed enough to move things around.
One desk is now vacant and many other employees have changed schedules to accommodate the changes.
Lanham says the library is looking at times when they see the least amount of students in case hours need to be changed in the future.
However, he says that is the last resort and the library will do everything it can to provide services to the Eastern Illinois community.
