A local hospital is told it may have to pay more than $9 million in property taxes.
The Champaign County Board of Review came to this this decision about Carle Foundation Hospital Tuesday.
Carle Representative Steven Pflaum says the board lacks the legal authority to make this decision.
Pflaum says the hospital is appealing to the Supreme Court to uphold their constitutional rights that will exempt them from paying taxes.
He says, on Thursday, the hospital will also file a motion asking the appellate court that overruled their exemptions to put a hold on their decision.
