Josh Bullock, President of Lake Land College, says the Board of Trustees voted at last night's meeting to move forward with laying off two positions: an Assistant Director of Physical Plant Operations and a custodian, and eliminating a Web Learning Specialist and a CTPD Technician. Bullock says that since these are non-instruction positions, students will not notice the minimal change in staff. While it isn't as many as the 198 civil service employees that Eastern Illinois University is laying off starting tomorrow, Bullock says that cutting the four is tough. Bullock says the college hasn't decided if it will implement furlough days for teaching staff like EIU has, rather the college is keeping all of its cost-saving options open. He says if a state budget doesn't come through soon, the college will revise its financial plan again in mid-March.
