Champaign Man Charged

A law requiring D.N.A. samples from Illinois felons leads to a break in a 30-year-old Chicago cold-case.

Officials say 62-year-old Michael Jones was arrested yesterday in his Champaign home in connection with the 1985 stabbing death and sexual assault of then 15-year-old Kristina Wesselman.

They say Wesselman's body was found on July 22, 1985 in a field in Glen Ellyn.

Police say the had access to Jones' D.N.A. after he plead guilty to aggravated domestic battery in Champaign County in July.

Today in court, Jones was denied bond.
